Catch Me If You Can

Mandy’s leprechaun challenge over at Gourmet Mom on-the-Go inspired our St. Patty’s Day fun today.

After the leprechauns had turned our breakfast and our lunch green we knew that something had to be done. We set a trap with a magically delicious treat. KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA PICT8787_edited-1 PICT8792_edited-1

The sneaky little rascals escaped, but left behind a treasure hunt as compensation.

The leprechaun let me in on a few of his secrets. Shhh … don’t tell him I told.

  • The “pot of gold” was inspired by Erin over at The Sister’s Cafe. Who knew leprechauns were bloggers.
  • The “rainbow” is a rainbow sherbet/angel food cake.  I, uh, he layered slightly softened sherbet and cubed angel food cake in half of a spring form pan. After letting it set up in the freezer for a bit he stood it up and frosted it with Cool Whip.
  • The rainbow decoration was created with Fruit by the Foot.
  • The clues were created with the Happy-Go-Lucky kit from Shabby Princess.
  • And the likeness of Mr. Leprechaun himself is courtesy of Gourmet Mom on-the-go.

okay, YOU ROCK! seriously, your kids will NEVER forget this! i remember being an imaginative 8 year old, making leprecaun traps with my brother. the next morning, we found a note, handwritten in tiny, swirly letters telling us we almost caught him and his "wee lucky charms!" he also left a few gold coins (chocolate) as a reward for our cleaverness!

what a fun mom!
